Welcome to Grace Piano Notebook! I’m Grace, a piano teacher with more than 25 years of teaching experience.

I began teaching piano in 2001 while I was in college, and since then I have taught students of many different ages and levels – from young beginners to adults in their 70’s. I believe that building a strong foundation is one of the most important parts of learning piano, but I also want students to enjoy music and experience the happiness of playing songs they love.
Over the years, I have worked with many families and adult students, and I’ve learned that every student learns differently. My goal is to help each student develop good habits, understand music clearly, and become a confident, independent pianist.
I created Grace Piano Notebook to share practical advice from my teaching experience with parents, beginning students, and adults learning piano. Here you’ll find straightforward guidance about piano lessons, practice, technique, choosing an instrument, and many of the questions I hear from students and parents every day.
Whether you are a parent helping your child begin piano lessons or an adult starting your own piano journey, I hope Grace Piano Notebook helps make learning piano a little easier and more enjoyable.
Over the years, I have taught students at many different stages of their piano journey, from young children playing their first notes to adults returning to the piano after many years. I believe that a strong foundation in note reading, rhythm, technique, and good practice habits gives students the confidence to become more independent as they progress.
My teaching philosophy is simple: every student learns differently. Some students move quickly, while others need more time and repetition. I try to meet each student where they are, while still giving them the structure and guidance they need to grow. Most importantly, I want students to enjoy making music and feel proud of what they can accomplish at the piano.
